Nuclear power industry information centers are multi-purpose communication platforms the goal of which is education of population on the matters of nuclear power use. The centers are created within a framework of a purpose-oriented program of State Atomic Energy Corporation «Rosatom» with financial support from «Atomenergoprom» OJSC and «Rosenergoatom Concern» OJSC.
An important feature of the information centers is related to their location: these are regions' capitals where nuclear power industry objects are being built or in operation and that facilitates the most visitors' access to the information centers.
Nowadays the centers are open in: Tomsk, Voronezh, Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Novosibirsk, Nizhniy Novgorod, Krasnoyarsk, Chelyabinsk, Sankt-Petersburg, Ulyanovsk.
Each information center represents an up-to-date multimedia cinema combining a panoramic 3D projection, graphics and computer-generated imagery, stereo sound, on-line consoles and personal monitors. The technologies used provide the effect of virtual reality.
The basic product of the information center is a 45-minutes multimedia show produced as a virtual spectacle «Nuclear Power's World». In addition to the main program at the center's disposal there are some more programs on astronomy, natural science, country studies in Russian and English.
When creating a show we assigned a task both to completely and plainly tell the simple spectator about the nuclear power and ensure active interaction with the audience.
Within a framework of the program some on-line trivia games are offered; on local monitors the backup information is represented containing comparisons that are simple and plain for an unskilled person.
The «Nuclear Power's World» program features universality and first of all counts on the most unskilled ones.
The minimal age of the center's visitor is 8, but we also arrange shows for adults. Our centers receive many applications for multimedia shows not only from schools and high schools, but from enterprises and organizations.
In order to use the center for family entertainment the «Free Flight Day» is arranged on Saturdays when all the people can enjoy any shows without appointment.
In order to reinforce the knowledge gained in the center specially designed booklets are distributed as well as the children's literature on nuclear power industry and souvenirs.
Prizes to on-line and trivia games winners make the process of gaining knowledge on nuclear power more and more attractive.
In addition to regular shows the centers organize various special arrangements (conferences, workshops, exhibitions and so on) which pupils, students, journalists, educators, public persons, representatives of authorities and nuclear power industry take part in.
The centers are open 6 days a week.
Monday – Friday: from 09.00 till 19.00: groups up to 40 people (by appointment). Saturday: from 11.00 till 16.00 – by no appointment. All the shows and arrangements are free of charge.
